The first 24 hours after any aesthetic treatment are the most important for your results. What you do — and do not do — in this window can affect healing time, comfort, and final outcomes. Here is your definitive aftercare guide for the most common treatments.

Day-by-Day Healing

See what the typical healing timeline looks like for microneedling and resurfacing treatments.

The Universal Rules

  • No strenuous exercise for 24 hours — elevated heart rate increases swelling and bruising
  • No alcohol for 24 hours — it thins the blood and worsens inflammation
  • No saunas, hot tubs, or steam rooms for 24-48 hours
  • Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area unless instructed
  • Apply SPF 30+ if going outdoors — your skin is more vulnerable after treatment

Treatment-Specific Aftercare

When to Call Us

Some swelling, redness, and mild discomfort are completely normal. Contact your provider if you experience: severe pain that is not relieved by OTC painkillers, signs of infection (increasing redness, warmth, pus), unusual skin color changes (white or blue patches near injection sites), or any symptom that feels concerning. We would rather hear from you and reassure you than have you worry at home.

💡Take a photo right after your treatment and on each subsequent day. This helps you and your provider track your healing and results over time.
